The main meetings of the two main opposition political parties Pakistan Peoples Party and PML-N were held in Lahore on Thursday. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari presided over the meeting of PPP Central Working Committee. On the other hand, at the PML-N headquarters, party leader Nawaz Sharif presided over the meeting via video link from London. Party President Shahbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader in Punjab Hamza Shahbaz also attended the meeting through video link. Maryam Nawaz and other leaders were also present in the meeting.

At the end of these meetings, news conferences were announced by both the parties. The PPP media cell gave the time of the news conference at 5 o'clock, shortly after which Maryam Nawaz from PML-N tweeted that she would hold the news conference at 4:30 o'clock. However, when Maryam Nawaz appeared before the media at around 5.30 pm, Bilawal Bhutto also delayed her press conference.

The majority of Maryam Nawaz's news conference revolved around the report of the Election Commission's scrutiny committee. He demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Interestingly, in the meeting held before this news conference, a resolution was passed in which the position of the party on all the challenges facing the country was put forward. Only one paragraph mentioned the report of the Election Commission.

However, in the news conference, the whole focus of Maryam Nawaz was on this report. He also highlighted the Kashmir issue. The two leaders also answered questions from journalists. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's news conference which started about 15 minutes after Maryam Nawaz's press conference continued for a long time.

According to political analysts, the content of the two opposition activities was similar. If Maryam Nawaz insisted on the resignation of the Prime Minister, then Bilawal Bhutto repeatedly spoke of early elections. Senior analyst Fahad Hussain believes that "the opposition has taken an aggressive stance and that was to be expected."

However, journalists from both sides repeatedly asked why the voice of the opposition was not coming from a single platform. Bilawal also gave a somewhat significant answer that when the PDM announced the long march in March, the PPP was not taken into confidence.

That is why the PPP has also announced a march in the month of February and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also said that we do not consider it necessary that we should wait longer to send this government home. Fahad Hussain says, "I think the PPP has also played its cards at the right time. Now the PDM will also change its strategy."

According to political analyst Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, all political parties have the right to try to take political advantage of the scrutiny committee's report against the PTI. This is how politics works. When cases are made against PML-N or PPP leaders and the ruling party publicizes them in the media, it too gains political advantage from these cases.

He added "I think it's too early to say. Because the final report of the Election Commission is yet to come. After the decision of the commission, it will be known what the political parties are saying in unison. It will not be a big deal to do anything now. Even if they make some demands today, they will not be big demands or their impact will not be huge. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami says, "After this report and especially after the mini-budget, the new wave of inflation has given the political parties the topics anyway, but I do not see any major change immediately."
